Six Pack: On the Flipside with Aubrey Aquino

I had the pleasure of getting a Six Pack of Questions completed by Aubrey Aquino, a former dancer for various professional sports teams, a reality TV star, a sports fan, and currently in charge of her own show "On the Flipside" Hopefully this interview will allow you to learn a little bit more about the lovely Aubrey. For even more on Aubrey, check out her personal site, her personal twitter, and On the Flipside. I would like to thank Aubrey, and hope the FTS Fans enjoy!
1) You were recently in Dallas for the NBA All- Star Weekend. What was the experience for you, how was the overall response in Dallas, and what was the biggest story you took from the experience?

I had a great time hanging out in Dallas for NBA All Star weekend. I have good friends who live there, so I was able to hang with the family, do a little work and hang out too! The freezings temps and SNOW were the big story of the weekend, everyone just kept talking about it, but I will say going to the actual All-Star game at Cowboys stadium was very cool....and to be part of the historic 108k+ crowd in attendance...hey, I can say I was there when...

2) You are a former dancer for the Sacremento Kings, Oakland Raiderettes, and the Arizona Cardinals. What was the try out experience like, and how enjoyable were your times as a dancer?
My experiences dancing for 3 pro teams are irreplaceable! Auditioning for a spot on any pro team can be a very intense, stressful experience. Any woman who has been through the process can attest to all the heart, effort and energy that goes into making the team. I was blessed to have the opportunity with 3 different organizations and not only do I take away so many unique memories, I've made friendships that will last a lifetime. Everything from performing to photo shoots, and meeting diehard fans was so much fun!

3) Your resume reads reporter and dancer, but how big of a sports fan are you? Do you have certain teams or players you follow?
I am a HUGE sports fans, especially when it comes to NBA and NFL. I grew up in the Bay Area and watching games was a regular event in our house. Of course I follow the Bay Area teams (Warriors and Raiders of course, plus I still watch out for the Sacramento Kings and 49ers), but I really just always am up to watch a good game. My Dad and I also are big fans of the Boston Celtics, since he was a Larry Bird guy and so that's kind of "our" team! Now being in Miami I support the HEAT and Dolphins, and have a special place in my heart for the PHX Suns and AZ Cardinals too from the time I spent there.

4) What was your experience on ESPN's reality show "Beg, Borrow and Deal" like?
The ESPN reality show was something else. When I look back now, I think - did I really do that!? haha To this day I hate that my team didn't win, but it was cool to be part of a new show...and this was before reality shows really went to the next level. Crazy though, traveling from coast to coast to complete sports challenges with complete strangers and nothing but my wits and the clothes on my back! Maybe we should do a reunion show...

5) Beings From the Stands Media gives readers the feel that they are at the corner sports bar, here are five bonus questions:
1) Favorite Alcoholic Drink: I rarely drink, but I always order SoCo (Southern Comfort) and lime shots for my friends!

2) Favorite Party Song: Blow the Whistle - Too Short

3) Biggest Party Foul: spilling drinks - especially on or near me!

4) Craziest Bar/ Party Story
I was in Vegas for a bachelorette party and one of the girls in our group tripped and fell at the strip club and broke off a chunk of her tooth, sort of like in the Hangover....my other friend picked up the piece that broke off...but to her credit she sucked it up and kept going all night, she did make an emergency run to the dentist in the morning though!

5) Being a single woman, what do you look for in a significant other?
Oooh, the significant other question! Like most women, I'm look for a "good man" and to me that's kind, consistent and smart. I tend to shy away from the loud, center of attention types, but prefer the more chilled out guy, a little rough around the edges! And it never hurts to be showered and spoiled with flowers and candy! ha

6) How did "On the Flipside" come about, what is that progra, and how can the FTS fans view your tremendous work?
On The Flipside is the show I always wanted to do, but didn't exist! When I moved to Miami I started working on an entertainment show called Deco Drive and I noticed there were lots of sports/athlete-related stories that didn't make the cut because they weren't mainstream celebs...and while we'd pass the stories onto the Sports Department, they weren't sports enough! So, in December of 2008 I just decided I'm going to do the show and bring it to life! Everything On The Flipside is related to sports and pro athletes, but we're not talking about sports, we're talking about their FLIPSIDE! The entertainment, lifestyle and celebrity side of it for them! It truly has been a labor of loved and I am blessed to have a network of family and friends who help me keep it going form the actual production to just spreading the word. I've been putting out shows for more than a year now and I've done it all with NO BUDGET! So now, we just need to get it in front of the right eyeballs to take it to the next level!!
